ENRICHING STUDENTS, STAFF & SCHOLARSHIPS

WHAT IS GIFT?

GIFT, the Gunter Education Foundation, is a public non-profit foundation which relies upon corporate and private donations for its funding. We are a volunteer organization, and all of our funds are directed toward educational programs. Funding priorities include both need and merit-based scholarships, innovative campus teaching grants, a permanent endowment fund, and fellowships for staff professional growth and development.

GIFT provides grants to teachers and campuses in the district and educational scholarships to deserving students and teachers. Since its creation in 2001, GIFT has distributed over $500,000 in scholarships to area students and over $130,000 in grants to GISD teachers and schools. In addition, GIFT has donated over $70,000 to the Kerfoot Trust. In toll, over $700,000 has been raised in the last 21 years.

GIFT HISTORY.

GIFT was established in 2001 by a small group of individuals who met to discuss ways to support Gunter ISD, encourage students and teachers, and subsidize the Kerfoot Trust. This meeting resulted in the forming of the Gunter ISD Education Foundation, known as GIFT.

Carl and Gladys Kerfoot established the Kerfoot Trust on September 25, 1975. The primary purpose of the Trust is to provide scholarships for graduates of Gunter High School and other financial benefits approved by the Trust. GIFT donates 15% of all monies raised back to this Trust.
